Google Home – Fehlerhaftes Update wurde gefixt

Gestern erst habe ich über ein fehlerhaftes Update berichtet, der Google Home Smart-Speaker außer Gefecht setzte. Jetzt hat Google mit einem Fix reagiert.

Es war schon das Zweite Mal, dass eine fehlerhafte Firmware Smart-Speaker von Google in funktionslose Tischdeko verwandelte. Dieses Mal hat Google allerdings wirklich schnell reagiert und einen Fix für das Problem bereitgestellt.

Nutzer müssen den Fix teils selber installieren

Laut Google soll sich der Fix selber installieren, ohne das die Nutzer selber Hand anlagen müssen. Bei manchen Nutzern war dies allerdings nicht der Fall. Grade wer schon versucht hatte, seinen Google Home mit einem Factory-Reset wieder zum Laufen zu bekommen, konnte auf Probleme mit dem Fix stoßen.

Um den Fix doch noch zu installieren, sollen folgende Schritte befolgt werden:

1. Unplug your Google Home

2. Completely turn off your Wi-Fi network that the Google Home connects to

3. Plug in your Google Home and waits until it seems done booting up, it will still be in a non-working state, but you should be able to adjust the volume to check if it’s on

4. Factory reset your device twice. For some reason two times is the charm. The first time you factory reset it seems that the Google Home can fail, so people have been having luck with two times

5. With your Wi-Fi network still off, on your phone open the Home app and find your trouble Google Home from nearby devices

6. Setup your Google Home and then when it asks to connect to Wi-Fi turn on your Wi-Fi network and finish setup

7. If all goes well the Home will be able to respond to voice commands again and you can see it in the Google Home app.

8. If your Home still doesn’t work, try the steps again. Some users, like me, had to do this twice.
